We at Meals on Wheels of Horry & Georgetown Counties, a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization, have helped restore purpose, identity, and hope to those most in need in our community. We accomplish this by providing FREE and freshly cooked meals delivered directly to the homes of our “Grandparents” following up with monthly special deliveries of gifts, Care Team visits, weekly devotionals, phone calls, and cards. We do ALL of this without the help of Meals on Wheels of America or any local, state or federal funding. Since 2009, we have cooked and delivered over 620,230 meals, served 9,489 “Grandparents” with continual weekly support, and have been a final meal, smile, prayer, hug, or shoulder to cry on for over 478 “Grandparents” who have passed away. Near the end of 2023 we became the focal point of local media when we lost our kitchen due to a significant rent increase and no option for leasing month-to-month. Consequently, we now have until the end of 2024 to raise enough funds to purchase land and build our forever home.
